If you want to learn how to oil paint but need help, direction, tips or even helpful criticism, you can find it here. All you need to know to start painting is that anyone can do it, and painting in oil paint is probably one of the easiest ways to start. I know, Oil paint is easy? Yes, the fact that it does not dry right away is the plus that makes oil painting for beginners easy. If you make a mistake or your brush slips, all you have to do is remove the slip and re-try.
Oil painting, for beginners, can be as easy as following a step by step lesson or getting advice from me. You start with the basics, namely the tools and materials and how to use them. Or you can get Free Painting Sample Lessons.
Stick to your guns and you will learn how to oil paint in no time.
You will probably laugh, but my first attempt to learn how to oil paint was at the hands of a PBS TV broadcast. I have since moved on to other sources, but I have to give credit where credit is due. The artist might have sounded a little corny but he made oil painting for beginners so easy. I moved on to an acrylic paint artist that also has a PBS TV series. From him, I learn the technique “dry brush” which is slightly different when you actually learn how to oil paint.
Come back to my blog to get more on oil painting for beginners.

Hi Steve,
You’re not the only one who started out painting by watching PBS, my godfather who passed away a few years ago also got started that way with oil painting. He was also really talented at it and developed his skills quite extensively with what he learned.
Great to see you sharing your talent!
